Type locality: Xilitla, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesHolotype: LSUM 204, male 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A species of average size for the genus having the third labial replaced on edge of lower lip by the enlarged first chin-shields; no lateral stripes present on the body; venter immaculate white; subcaudal region with a slight median peppering of pigment; above brownish gray, the scales faintly outlined with heavier pigment (Taylor 1950: 443). 
Comment 
EtymologyThe specific epithet comes from the Latin words “quadri-” and “virga”, meaning "four stripes." Adelphicos is neuter, therefore quadrivirgatum is the correct epithet (LaDuc, 1995).

The genus was named after the Greek word "adelphikos" an adverb ("brotherly," Brown, 1956: 69), and the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1985, Art. 11g) requires that generic names be nouns or treated as nouns.
