Type locality: Sierra Leone.

TypesHolotype: lost, was UUZM (= ZMUU). Lost according to Roux-Estève (1974:80). 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Typhlops boulengeri is listed as valid species in LeBreton 1999. Typhlops boulengeri usambaricus LAURENT 1964 has been removed from the synonymy of A. lineolatus.

Distribution: See maps (Figures 11-13) in Broadley & Wallach 2009. not in Liberia but present in Niger (L. Chirio, pers. comm., 23 Aug 2013). Previous distribution before usambaricus and tanganicus were elevated to full species: Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, SW Chad, S Somalia, W Zambia, Angola, Congo (Brazzaville), Central African Republic, probably Mali (Joger & Lambert 1996). Not in Liberia fide Senter & Chippaux 2022.

Distribution fide McDiarmid et al. 1999: 108: Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, southwest Chad, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Congo (Brazzaville), Zaire, Angola, western Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, southwest Kenya, Ethiopia, southern Sudan. Note that Broadley & Wallach 2009 restricted this species to East and Central Africa.
