DistributionMountain regions in SE Spain (Sierra de Cazorla, Sierra de Segura, Sierra de Alcaraz)

Type locality: “Pledra de Aguamula, en la Sierra de Cazorla (Jaén). Fueron capturados todos los ejemplares en las márgenes del pequeño arroyo que corre al ple de la peña.”

Diagnosis 
CommentSince its description no other specimens of A. hidalgoi have been found. It may be an aberrant form of A. marchi although its identity remains unclear (ENGELMANN et al. 1993: 250).

Subspecies: Algyroides marchi niethammeri has blue throats. However, niethammeri was synonymized with the nominate subspecies by Salvador 1998.
