Diagnosis 
CommentType species: Typhlops wiedii Peters 1867 is the type species of the subgenus Pattersontyphlops Hoser 2013: 44 (subgenus of Libertadictus Wells & Wellington 1984), a synonym of Anilios (SHEA 2015). 
EtymologyNamed after Prinz Maximilian zu Wied (1782-1867) [see Methner 2002 for a short biography].
