Elevation: 0- 2,000 m (Köhler 2008)
Reproductionoviparous
TypesNeotype: MNHN-RA 2426 (= holotype of Anolis copei Bocourt 1873)
Holotype: MCZ 6549 [solifer]
Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy partly after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970. Many early records list this species as A. lemurinus (Villa et al. 1988). The holotype of Anolis copei is an Anolis biporcatus.

Subspecies: Anolis biporcatus parvauritus (WILLIAMS 1966) has been elevated to full species by Armstead et al. 2017.

Types: KÖHLER & BAUER (2001) suggest to designate the holotype of Anolis copei as neotype for Norops biporcatus. The syntypes of Anolis Petersii are conspecific with the holotype of Anolis biporcatus (KÖHLER & BAUER 2001). See also Anolis (Norops) petersii.

Distribution: Not listed for El Salvador by KÖHLER (2000). See map in Armstead et al. 2917: 291 (Fig. 6). Not in Yucatan state (Mexico) according to GONZÁLEZ-SÁNCHEZ et al. 2017.

Relative abundance in Honduras: infrequent

Species group: Norops auratus Species Group (fide Nicholson et al. 2012)
