DistributionPuerto Rico (including many offshore islands), Isla Vieques, Isla Culebra, Isla Culebrita, Virgin Islands, Isla de Cabras, Punta Salinas Island, Cayo Ratones (near Jobos, Puerto Rico), Skipper Cay (south of Key Point, Peter Island, British Virgin Islands, e.g. Anegada); Dominica (THORPE, cited in POWELL & HENDERSON 2004)

Hispaniola: Dominican Republic (introduced),
USA (Florida, introduced)
Mexico (Yucatan), Costa Rica (introduced)
Trinidad (introduced)

cristatellus: Puerto Rico, including some off-shore islands; introduced in República Dominicana and southeast Florida. Type locality: see comment.

wileyae: islands east of Puerto Rico; US. and British Virgin Is., Puerto Rico, Isla Vieques, Isla Culebra.
TypesHolotype: MCZ 8306 (in catalogue as 2171)
Holotype: UMMZ 73648; MCZ 34792 (fide SCHWARTZ & HENDERSON 1991); paratypes: UMMZ [wileyae]
CommentDistribution: Introduced to Middle America from Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. Anolis lindeni has been reported from Brazil (type locality Santarém). However, its holotype (MCZ 8306) was probably mislabelled and the species doesn’t occur in Brazil (Avila-Pires 1995). The type locality of the nominate form has been erroneously given as “Martinique”. Listed for Mexico with a question mark by KÖHLER 2000. Not in Yucatan state (Mexico) according to GONZÁLEZ-SÁNCHEZ et al. 2017. Not on Isla Mona (Rodriguez-Robles et al 2007).

Ecomorph class: trunk-ground.

Species group: Ctenonotus cristatellus species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012).
