Type locality: Ecuador, Napo, Mt. Sumaco  
TypesHolotype: MCZ 38937; paraype: USNM 16533 
CommentPopulations of this species have been redescribed as Anolis williamsmittermeierorum POE & YAÑEZ-MIRANDA 2007. Reports from Peru (WILLIAMS & MITTERMEIER 1991) may be based on the latter species.

Distribution: Probably in Colombia although there are no published records [Castro,F. (pers. comm.)]
