bouvieri: Guatemala; Type locality: Escuintla, Guatemala [considered as erroneous by KÖHLER 2007].

Diagnosis 
CommentBelongs to the pentaprion group which includes seven species: fungosus, ibague, ortonii, pentaprion, sulcifrons, utilensis, and vociferans.

Synonymy after Peters et al. 1970 and Köhler 2007. BOULENGER 1885 listed Anolis bouvieri already as synonym of A. ortonii.

Species group: Norops auratus Species Group (fide Nicholson et al. 2012)

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-80%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
Etymologynamed after “Prof. Jas. Orton, of Williams College, to whom Science is indebted for this and other species...” (from COPE 1868).
