Type locality: Quebrada “La Limonita”, tributaria del Río Cusiana, Inspección del Policía de Corinto, Municipio de Pajarito, Departamento de Boyacá, flanco oriental de la Cordillera Oriental del Colombia, 1620 m elevation. (5° 30’ N, 72° 17” W).

CommentSpecies groups: Dactyloa punctata species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyNamed after Pedro Ruiz, curator of Herpetology at the Instituto de Ciencias Naturales, Museo de Historia Natural, Bogotá.
