Types	Holotype: QM J188 Holotype: lost (presumed), from Stannary Hills, Qld. [Denisonia rostralis]. Holotype: NRM (NHRM) 2454, from Cairns, Qld. [Rhynchelaps fuscicollis].
Diagnosis	Diagnosis: A. warro is distinguished from all other Australia elapid snakes by the following suite of characters: eyes small; snout weakly shovel shaped, rostral scale lacking an acute transverse cutting edge; nasal and preocular scale separated by prefrontal / supralabial contact; two primary temporal scales; 15 midbody rows; subcaudals divided; a black bar between the eyes and another broad black bar across the nape; dorsal body scales irregularly dark-edged producing a speckled pattern.
Comment	Synonymy partly after COGGER 1983. Venomous! Type species: Cacophis warro DE VIS 1884: 139 is the type species of the genus Antaioserpens WELLS & WELLINGTON 1985: 44. According to Scanlon et al. 2004 Antaioserpens is a sister genus to Simoselaps, hence A. warro may have stayed in Simoselaps. Antaioserpens is placed into the Hydrophiinae based on Couper et al. 2016 and Strickland et al. 2016.
Etymology	Named after the type locality.
