Type locality: Between Lawyer's River and Cassava Ghaut, St. Peter's Parish, Montserrat.

Subspecies: Typhlops monastus geotomus THOMAS 1966 is now treated as a full species. 
EtymologyNamed after the Greek word for monastery.
