Diagnosis 
CommentType species: Amblycephalus boa BOIE 1828: 1035 is the type species of the genus Aplopeltura DUMÉRIL 1853. Aplopeltura Duméril is designated a nomen protectum (fide WALLACH et al. 2014: 49).
