Type locality: "Java".  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesHolotype: MNHN = MHNP 1062. 
CommentSynonymy: Boulenger 1893: 30 listed Ophthalmidion fuscum in the synonymy of Typhlops platycephalus Dumeril and Bibron, 1844.

Status unclear, but “a valid species in the ruficaudus group” (V. Wallach, pers. comm.) [A. Wynn also studying this taxon, and we both examined the type] 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “fuscus”, meaning dark or dusky.
