DistributionCuba

Type locality: Eastern Cuba

landoi: Cuba; Type locality: Mountains north of Imías, Guantánamo Province, Cuba. Map legend:

TypesHolotype: unlocated, probably lost (fide HEDGES & GARRIDO 1992)
Neotype: MCZ 42505 [originally the holotype of landoi]
CommentSynonymy: Has been previously considered as a synonym of Arrhyton taeniatum Gunther 1858. HEDGES & GARRIDO (1992) provide evidence that the original holotype is actually not A. redimitum. BOULENGER’s (1894) description was not based on the type but rather on BOCOURT’s description.
Etymologyredimitum, is derived from the Latin “redimiculum,” meaning head band, which aptly describes the distinctive pattern feature of A. landoi.
