Diagnosis 
CommentNot listed by CROTHER 2000 for North America but confirmed by COLLINS & TAGGART (2002). Has been confused with Ameiva chaitzami. 
EtymologyThe name motaguae is derived from the Río Motagua Valley, Guatemala, plus the Latin suffix –ae (a derivation), denoting that the type locality lies in that valley.
