PARATYPES. Topoparatypes UAZ 9228-29, 9230, 9232; and 14900. Paratype-s UAZ 9224 from 1.0 mi (rd) S Oputo, UAZ 14904-06, 15057- 58, 15527-29 and JWW 5001-022 (now USNM?) from 3.4 mi (rd) S Oputo, and UAZ 15524-25 from,2.2 mi (rd) S Oputo,Sonora. 
EtymologyNamed afer Ópata, the name for the Amerind group that was formerly widespread in the upper Rio Yaqui valley, and which is now essentially extinct or assimilated.
