Type locality: “Sokoto, Upper Niger” [= NW Nigeria, 13°03' N, 5°15' E, elevation 295 m].

CommentHas been considered as a synonym of A. microlepidota. 
EtymologyNamed after the collector of the types, Mr. C.F. Watson.
