| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Bachia remota is a member of the heteropa group with hexagonal, smooth, imbricate dorsal, and rectangular, juxtaposed ventral and lateral scales. The new species is distinguished from all other species in the heteropa group by the following combinations of characters: (1) four clawed digits on all limbs; (2) prefrontals absent; (3) interparietal absent; (4) two supraciliary scales; (5) large size (86.8 mm SVL); and, (6) background coloration homogeneous brown on all surfaces of body and tail. |

| Etymology | The specific epithet is derived from the Latin adjective remotus and refers to the geographical remoteness and isolation of the region (Montanhas do Tumucumaque National Park) where the specimen was collected. |
