TypesHolotype: unknown (fide SANG et al. 2009) 
CommentA specimen from Bhutan had been misidentified as B. ochracea ochracea (TILLACK 2006).

Characteristic features. This species is characterized by the combination of the following measurements and sca- lation characters (after Smith 1943; Manthey & Gross- mann 1997; Tillack et al. 2004; pers. observ., see also Ta- ble 2): TL up to 1,860 mm in females and up to 1,775 mm in males; 1 loreal; 1 preocular, reaching the upper surface of the head; 2 (rarely 3) postoculars; 8–9 (rarely 7) supra- labials (3–5, 4-5 or 4–6 in contact with the eye); 11–12 (rarely 10) infralabials; DSF 21-23 : 21 : 15-17; vertebral scales relatively enlarged; 231 – 258 ventrals; cloacal scale undivided; 118–158 divided subcaudals [from ZIEGLER et al. 2010].
