DistributionN Peru (on the pacific coast between Lobitos and Talara/Piura, and the Rio Moche/La Libertad)

Type locality: From mouths of Quebradas Honda and Perines, between Lobitos and Talara, northern Peru.

TypesHolotype: BMNH 1946.1.18.71 (formerly BMNH 1926.3.24.40). 
Diagnosis 
CommentVenomous!

Incertae sedis fide FENWICK et al. 2009 but closely related to B. pictus. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Burgess Barnett (1888-1944), Curator of Reptiles, London Zoo (1932-1937). He also worked at the Rangoon Zoological Gardens, Burma (Myanmar) (1938) until his death in Bengal. He also collected the types of this species in Peru.
