“Near threatened” (HILTON-TAYLOR 2000). 
EtymologyNamed after Gr.: thamnos, bush or shrub; -bates, walker (from baino = to tread): shrub walker denoting the habitat of this species (Charles Klaver, pers. comm., 11 Jan 2023).
