|Diagnosis||DIAGNOSIS. Carlia nigrauris is a member of the C. peronii species group and differs from all other group members by the black color of the scales and skin of the ear openings and its perimeter in juveniles and adults. Additionally, C. nigrauris averages larger (adult males mean 56 mm SVL) than C. peronii and C. spinauris (~40 mm SVL) and males have a proportionately longer hindlimb (110% HindlL/TrunkL, 91 and 102% respectively). C. nigrauris averages more Dorsal (50), Midbody (33), and 4ToeLm (28) than C. peronii and C. spinauris (45, 29, 27 and 48, 30, 24, respectively).|
|Comment||Carlia nigrauris has its closest affinities to populations (C. peronii, C. spinauris) living on Timor.|
Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017).
|Etymology||The specific name derives from the Latin nigra (feminine) for black and auris (f.) for ear in reference to the color of the wall of the ear-openings and the external perimeter of adjacent head scales.|
