costatus: Tiburon Peninsula in Haiti. Type locality: Near Jérémie, Département de la Grand'Anse, Haiti.

aenetergum: Isla Catalinita.

chalcorhabdus: extreme eastern República Dominicana.

emys: Île de la Tortue.

leionotus: República Dominicana, Valle de San Juan and intermontane valleys in Sierra de Neiba, east to Llanos de Azua and southern slopes of Cordillera Central.

melanchrous: north-central and eastern Haiti, east to Peninsula de Samaná, República Dominicana; inland to Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Monseñor Nouel, and La Vega provinces.

neiba: Sierra de Neiba, República Dominicana.

nesobous: Île-à-Vache.

oreistes: southeastern Haiti, Montagne Noire and Massif de la Selle (and associated lowlands), east into República Dominicana (Sierra de Baoruco) to east coast of Peninsula de Barahona.

psychonothes: interior Cordillera Central, República Dominicana.

saonae: Isla Saona.

INCERTAE SEDIS: Material from north-central Haiti (Jean Bernard, Grande Rivière du Nord, Marmelade) unassigned to subspecies.

Diagnosis 
CommentFor illustrations see Fischer, 1886 (as Diploglossus ohlendorffii); Cochran, 1941 (as C. badius); Schwartz, 1964; not Mertens, 1939, or Cochran, 1941 (as C. costatus).
Celestus costatus badius has been elevated to species status.
