Cnemaspis dezwaani differs from all other South- east Asian diminutive Cnemaspis in having the unique combi- nation of a maximum SVL of 31.3 mm; each postmental bounded by four scales; dorsal scales keeled; four spine-like tubercles on flank; gular scales keeled; pectoral scales and abdominal scales keeled; ventral scales of thigh keeled; 8–12 precloacal pores; 3 or 4 femoral pores on each side; subcaudals keeled, scales on median row enlarged and keeled; 5–7 supralabials; 16–19 lamellae under fourth toe.

EtymologyNamed after Johannes Pieter Kleiweg de Zwaan (1875–1971), a Dutch professor of anthropology at Amsterdam University, and collector of the type specimen.
