Type locality: desertified agricultural area 4 km N of Moruy (11°51'30"N, 69°58'W), Peninsulade Paraguana, Estado Falcon, Venezuela.

TypesHolotype: MCNG 1402 (field number and frozen tissue number ALM 5983), an adult male collected on 22 July 1993 by Allan L. Markezich. 
Diagnosis 
CommentNot in Colombia fide F. Castro (pers. comm.).

Group: member of the lemniscatus group, see C. lemniscatus for details. 
EtymologyThe specific appellation is a noun in apposition, meaning" wanderer of the sand." It refers to the typical duneland or desert scrub habitat of this species.
