DistributionE Botswana (dry lowveld, especially Colophospermum savanna), S Zimbabwe, N Republic of South Africa, and Mozambique south of the Save River." (fide BROADLEY & BRANCH 2002).

Type locality: “Murchison Range, Transvaal”.

TypesType: BMNH 1946.8.29.40 (and possibly additional specimens). 
Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: Cordylus tropidosternum jonesii has been elevated to species status.

EtymologyNamed after Mr. C. R. Jones who “presented [the type] to the British Museum”.
