DiagnosisDiagnosis. Crotaphytus bicinctores which differs from the peninsular lower California form in having: 1) 6 or more (83% of 125) internasals instead of 5 or fewer (92% of 36), 2) 39 or fewer femoral pores (93% of 124) instead of 40 or more (67% of 37), 3) anterior dark collar separated medially by 12 or fewer pale scales (91% of 110) instead of by 13 or more (100% of 37), 4) posterior dark collar separated medially by 12 or fewer pale scales (100% of 101) instead of by 13 or more (97% of 37) and 5) no or only traces of pale transverse lines between the broad, dark, often obscure dorsal trunk crossbands in adults, rather than distinct, broad, dark dorsal bands (often with medial dots and dashes) separated by broken or continuous transverse lines [from AXTELL 1972].
 
CommentMontanucci (1983) downgraded Crotaphytus bicinctores to C. insularis bicinctores but other revalidated it. Illustrated on the cover of Iguana Rundschreiben 17 (1), 2004.
