Types	Lectotype: SAMA R1423, male, collected Elder Expedition. Designated by Zietz (1915); see Houston (1974).

Comment	Lifestyle: saxicolous.
Etymology	Presumably named after the Latin rufus (red) plus the suffix -escens (becoming), i.e., reddish. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
