TypesLectotype: SMF 14422 (= 6225, 3a in Mertens, 1967), Hermannsburg, Finke River, NT, presented M. von Leonhardi, 1908. Designation by Mertens (1967). 
Diagnosis 
CommentCtenotus quattuordecimlineatus iapetus has been raised to full species status.

Rabosky et al. (2009) provide evidence that Ctenotus leonhardii and C. quattuordecimlineatus hybridize.

Abundance: common (Pianka 2011)

Limb morphology: 5 digits, 5 toes (Singhal et al. 2018, Cogger 2014) 
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin quattuordecim (14) plus lineatus (striped), in reference to the number of stripes. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
