Distribution: Not in Gabon fide PAUWELS & VANDE WEGHE 2008. See map in Mazuch et al. 2016: 2 (Fig. 1). Not in Equatorial Guinea (where it is replaced by C. elegans) fide SÁNCHEZ-VIALAS et al. 2022.

Type species: Cyclanorbis petersii GRAY 1855 is the type species of the genus Cyclanorbis GRAY 1852.

Habitat: freshwater (rivers and tributaries, lakes) 
EtymologyNamed after the type locality.

The genus was named after Greek kuklas = encircling and Latin orbis = anything of a circular shape, a disk.
