Distribution	Hispaniola (SW Dominican Republic; presumably in the Cul de Sac Plain of Haiti) Type locality: Saint-Domingue.

Etymology	Named after Alexandre Ricord (1798-1876), a French naval surgeon who qualified as a physician in Paris (1824), and became a Corresponding Member, Academie Nationale de Medecine, Paris (1838).
