Diagnosis 
CommentVenomous! Most common cause for snake-bite mortality in Senegal (Trape et al. 2001)

Distribution: see map in Trape 2018: 31 (Fig. 15). Populations from Cameroon, Chad, CAR have been assigned to E. romani (Trape 2018). 
EtymologyFrom lat. ocellus = diminuitive of oculus: eye; with ocellated patches.
