Distribution	Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Syria, Turkey Type locality: “Birecik (Urfa prov.), Turkey” by neotype designation by Sivan & Werner (2003).

Diagnosis	Diagnosis: An Eirenis with 15 scale rows, black collar and cross-bands, which differs from E. coronella in having fewer sub-caudals (males 41.0±3.0I against 53.6±4.89, females 36.6±2.49 against 49.3±4.62); and in having a black crown, a dark ventral stripe or both.
Comment	Minuscule species (ca. 25 cm max. total length) Distribution: not in Egypt (S Levant), Israel fide MAHLOW et al. 2013. For a map see Sindaco et al. 2013.
