Type locality: Sudest Island (formerly Tagula Island) in the Louisiade Archipelago, Papua New Guinea. Type locality for the neotype (Brown, 1991): Rambuso, Sudest Island, Louisiade Archipelago, Papua New Guinea.

Diagnosis 
CommentDistribution: Not listed by BAUER 1999.

Synonymy: partly after Zug 1997. The E. caeruleocauda shown in ter Borg (2005) is actually Cryptoblepharus renschi (ter Borg 2007). “Scincus celestinus Valenc. Mus. Par. Guérin, Icon. R. A. t. 15, f. 2” is mentioned in Gray 1845: 79 as a synonym of Keneuxia smaragdina, but without publication date.
 
EtymologyNamed after its blue (”caeruleo”) tail (”cauda”).
