Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy: Orlova et al. 2017 found no differences in mtDNA sequences between Tuva population and the rest of species range. Morphological characters chosen by Szczerbak (1970) for recognition of E. przewalskii tuvensis as a separate taxon are subjected to significant clinal variation from north to south (Dely 1979; 1980; Orlova 1992); thus there is no basis for recognition of E. przewalskii tuvensis as a vaid subspecies, thus Orlova et al. 2017 proposed to regard it as a synonym of a monotypic E. przewalskii.

Plate 28A in ZHAO & ADLER 1993.

Distribution: not in Kazakhstan fide Dujsebayeva (2010 and pers. comm., 6 Feb 2012).

Subspecies: Eremias przewalskii nested within Eremias multiocellata in the study by GUO et al. 2011, and thus may be a subspecies of multiocellata or the latter may be split up into a number of additional species. GUO et al. 2011 didn’t make any of those decisions as current data doesn’t seem sufficient.
Etymologynamed after General Nikolai Mikhailovitch Przewalski (1839-1888), a Russian Cossack naturalist who explored Central Asia (Beolens et al. 2009).
