Type locality: Marajo, Brazil.

TypesHolotype: ANSP 20891, female, collected by R.M. de Schauensee in 1924. 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Amaral (1944, 1948) considered E. deschauenseei to be synonymous with E. notaeus. 
EtymologyNamed after Rodolphe Meyer de Schauensee, who donated a specimen to the Philadelphia Zoo in 1924. This species is not listed by GASC & RODRIGUES 1980.
