DiagnosisDiagnosis: G. coggeri differs from G. glabra, the only other species in the genus, in the following characters: prefrontals present instead of absent; external ear opening slightly larger than narial opening instead of equal in size or slightly smaller; last (seventh) supra-ciliary larger than the preceding sub-equal supraciliaries instead of subequal; subdigital lamellae on the fourth toe more numerous (16-18 [N = 2] vs 12-15 [N = 10]; P = .05, Mann-Whitney U Test; Siegel, 1956); ventral spotting light in stead of heavy; front limbs possibly slightly longer (.18 vs .16-.17 times SV); and paravertebral scales less numerous (45 [N = 2] vs 49-51 [N = 9]; P = .05, Mann-Whitney U Test). The two forms are considered to be distinct species primarily because the differences between them in characters above exceed the limits of variation normally found between widely sepa rated populations of a single, continu ously distributed species.
