Synonym | Gerrhopilus sumatranus WYNN 2021: 2245 |
Distribution | Indonesia (SE Sumatra) Type locality: Indonesia: Sumatra, 10 km north of Lubuklinggau, 03 120 S, 102 500 E |
Reproduction | |
Types | Holotype: BMNH 1974.4220, collected by Gerald A. Lincoln on June 6, 1973. |
Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A member of the genus Gerrhopilus, distinguishable from other members of this genus by the combination of having an inferior preocular and inferior ocular (sub- ocular), overlap of the third supralabial by only the infe- rior preocular, and overlap of the fourth supralabial by both the inferior preocular and inferior ocular (Wynn 2021). Comparisons: Gerrhopilus sumatranus can be distinguished by the presence of both an inferior preocular and inferior ocular (subocular) from all other species in Gerrhopilus except for G. andamanensis and G. bisubocularis. G. sumatranus can be distinguished from G. andamanensis and G. bisubocularis by the overlap pattern of the supralabials with the inferior preocular and inferior ocular. In G. sumatranus, the inferior preocular is overlapped by the second supralabial and over- laps the third and fourth supralabials, and the inferior ocular overlaps only the fourth supralabial. In G. andamanensis and G. bisubocularis, the inferior preocular is overlapped by the second supralabial and overlaps only the third supralabial, and the inferior ocular overlaps both the third and fourth supralabials. G. sumatranus can also be distinguished from G. bisubocularis by the absence of melanophore pigmentation on its head (vs. dorsal melanophore pigmentation on the head of G. bisubocularis). The holotype of G. andamanensis is too faded to comment on its color pattern (Wynn 2021). |
