DistributionUSA (C Texas: Colorado River watershed on the Edwards Plateau)

Type locality: “Austin, Texas” [Travis County, Texas].  
Reproductionoviparous. Exhibits temperature‐dependent sex determination (TSD) fide Cornejo-Páramo et al. 2020 (and references therein). 
TypesHolotype: USNM 27473 (alcoholic adult male, CL 87 mm, rear scute missing), collector unknown, Jul 1900, donated by Herbert H. and Clement S. Brimley.
Paratypes: USNM 27474 (alcoholic male, CL 89 mm); USNM 27475 (alcoholic male, CL 87 mm); USNM 27476 (alcoholic male, CL 85 mm); USNM 27477 (alcoholic male, CL 90 mm); USNM 27478 (alcoholic male, CL 95 mm); USNM 27479 (alcoholic male, CL 74 mm); and USNM 27480 (alcoholic specimen, exchanged, see “Remarks”); all collected at the type locality, collector unknown, Jul 1900. MCZ 42346.

CommentDiet: omnivore.

Habitat: freshwater (lakes, rivers) 
EtymologyNamed after the turned or changed head pattern differing from that of Graptemys pseudo­geographica.
