CommentHistory: The types were collected by Darwin or his fellow travellers on his voyage of the Beagle.

Synonymy: Gymnodactylus girardi and G. darwinii have been synonymized with G. geckoides by BOULENGER 1885: 39 
EtymologyNamed after Charles Robert Darwin (1809-1882), author of “On the Origin of Species ...”.
