Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: Holaspis guentheri laevis has been elevated to species status. Distribution not corrected for elevation of laevis to species status. The photos listed below may actually be H. laevis (M. Kroniger, pers. comm.).

Type species: Holaspis guentheri GRAY 1863: 152 is the type species of the genus Holaspis GRAY 1863.

Key: Arnold 1989 presents a key to the lacertids of equatorial Africa, including the genera Holaspis, Gastropholis, and Adolfus.

Synonymy: Boulenger 1921 considered laevis a synonym of guentheri. 
EtymologyNamed after Albert Günther (1830-1914), German-born zoologist at the British Museum.
