Type locality: New Zealand.

CommentMax. snout-vent-length: 160 mm.

Type species: Platydactylus duvaucelii DUMÉRIL & BIBRON 1836 is the type species of the genus Hoplodactylus FITZINGER 1843.

Definition (genus). Pupils with crenulated margins; subdigital pads >2/3

of toe length; 15–27 lamellae under digit IV of pes, at least distal lamellae curved or chevron-shaped; ventral skin opaque; mouth lining unpigmented; precloacal pores in males continuous with femoral pores on under surface of thighs; body size large to very large (SVL 95–360 mm) [after NIELSEN et al. 2011].
