Type locality: “in and near Agaupani, Bajhura District, Far Western Nepal”, 29° 26’ 54’’ N, 81° 36’ 11’’ E.

|Comment||The genus Oriotiaris has been established by GÜNTHER 1864 but later synonymized with Japalura. See also Japalura tricarinata (BLYTH 1853).|
Definition of Oriotaris: “Tympanum naked. Back and sides covered with very small scales, between which larger keeled ones are scattered; a tubercle behind the superciliary edge. Dorsal crest very low, fonned by a series of larger, keeled, not prominent scales. Gular sac none. Tail not compressed, with keeled scales below, which are almost as broad as long.” (GÜNTHER 1864: 150)
Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017).
