Type locality: "Tugela River valley. . .Tugela River. . . Dimane stream near Jameson Drift," Natal Prov., Republic of South Africa.  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesLectotype: PEM (formerly AMG, no catalog number), designated by Broadley 1981 (fide KING & BURKE 1989). Paralectotype: PEM (formerly AMG 6975A). Paratype: DNMNH (= TM) 16031 (lost). 
Diagnosis 
CommentListed as a synonym of Kinixys belliana belliana by WERMUTH & MERTENS 1977: 70.

Distribution: not in S Mozambique, Swaziland, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire); endemic to South Africa (WR Branch, pers., comm., 12 Nov 2010). See map in Kindler et al. 2012 (supplement).
