MÜLLER and HELLMICH (1933) considered Proctotretus modestus (PHILIPPI 1860) as a synonym of Liolaemus altissimus. Liolaemus bellii moradoensis HELLMICH 1950 has been elevated to full species status.

Distribution: not listed for Argentina fide AVILA et al. 2010, Lista de las lagartijas y anfisbaenas de Argentina. Reports from Argentina are most likely based on L. neuquensis and L. araucaniensis which were considered as subspecies of L. bellii previously.

Taxonomy: Liolaemus bellii araucaniensis MÜLLER & HELLMICH 1932 and Liolaemus (bellii) neuquensis have been elevated to full species status.
