CommentBelongs to the Liolaemus elongatus-kriegi group (fide ESPINOZA et al. 2000 and AVILA et al. 2003). See entry of Liolaemus punmahuida for differential diagnosis.

Southern populations of L. buergersi have been split off into a new species, L. scorialis.
