Diagnosis 
CommentMember of the darwinii group of Liolaemus.

Habitat: terrestrial, dwelling on rocky gravel and sandy soil in a Monte landscape with sparse vegetation.

Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Mr. Alvaro Montañez, park guard Head of the Parque Nacional San Guillermo, for his encouragement and support to all research activities in that protected area.
