Type locality: “en la localidad de Poconchile (18° 26’ S; 70°05’ W) a 1100 msnm, Provincia de Arica, Región de Tarapacá, Chile.”

DiagnosisDiagnosis (short): The new species differs from the boulengeri group in lacking a patch enlarged scales on the posterior thigh. It remaining species of the montanus group by its moderate size, some dorsal scales with slight keels, smoth, and rounded dorsal body scale and mildly imbricate. It has a sexual dimorphism. 
CommentHabitat: it ocurs over 1000 m of elevation and their habitat coresponds to the hiperdesert or interior desert. 
EtymologyEl nombre de esta especie está basado en la localidad tipo, Poconchile, interior de Arica.
