Type locality: Boelawa-Gebirge, 1200 m [elevation], Celebes [now Huidu Matabulawa, in the Bone Mountains]

TypesHolotype: NMBA 4742 (= NHMB) 
Diagnosis 
CommentKnown only from the type (Shea 2017). This species is not mentioned in Ouboter’s review of Scincella (see references there). Müller describes in that paper another two skinks of unknown status: L. celebense and L. textum. A fourth skink described by him, L. amabile has been synonymized with Sphenomorphus nigrolabris.

Lipinia inconspicua is the frst species of Lipinia in Sulawesi with an external ear, and is most similar to Lipinia auriculata kempi from the Philippines. The other two species reported from Sulawesi (L. infralineolata and L. subvittata; Koch 2012) are earless.

Abundance: only known from the type specimen (Meiri et al. 2017).
