Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesSyntypes: MNHN and RMNH (some sources say “AG” = Academico Groningano, the Akademisch Museum te Groningen, AMG, in the Netherlands, which was destroyed in a great fire in the Groningen academy building in 1906). 
CommentSimilar to Bungarus ceylonicus, and thus a possible case of mimicry.

Taxonomy: previously an “incertae sedis” taxon by placed in Natricidae by Pyron et al. 2013.
